Welcome back, beautiful people! Every day, it is your responsibility to check the blog to see what you need to do for the day.
Here is the link to the No Fear Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet online with the side-by-side original text and modern translation: CLICK HERE
Monday - Writer's Notebook: "Romeo was banished from Verona in Act 3 and he does not take it well, saying death is preferable to banishment. Is there a modern equivalent of banishment? Is banishment really worse than death, as Romeo imagines? Why doesn't Juliet simply decide to join Romeo in Mantua?"
Tuesday - Take some time to read today, not necessarily during this "class period," but at some point. The choice book you started earlier in the semester -- did you finish it? Is there another book you've been itching to read or want to challenge yourself to read? Do it! Take advantage of this time we have in our homes to rediscover the magic of reading.
Wednesday - Writer's Notebook: "How have you been coping with this new Coronavirus reality in which we find ourselves? How is online school working for you in all your classes? Besides school work, what have you been doing to occupy the time?"
Thursday - Today, we will have a Zoom meeting/class. Each class will have 30 minutes to review Romeo and Juliet (and to catch up with each other and show off our pets). The class period time slots are below, but you can attend a different class session if you have a conflict with another class or appointment.
Friday - Writer's Notebook: "Friday Freewrite!!!"

- There are some of you who have not shared the Google Doc you will continue to use for your Writer's Notebook. If you have not shared it with me, the instructions are below. The majority of you have done this already, but for the rest of you, here it is again:
- Open a new document with the document name: "Notebook - first and last name" (e.g. - "Notebook - John Smith").
- Share it with me at [email protected]. You only need to do this once.
- Each entry should begin with the date and then copy and paste the prompt from the blog.
- Your response should be at least 200 words for full credit (about a half page double spaced). This should only take you about 8-10 minutes.
- At the end of your response, hit Control Enter. This starts a new page in the document for your next entry.
- Watch this short video with a greeting and some of your Writer's Notebook responses from last week. You also get to meet KITTY!!!: LINK
- Read Romeo and Juliet Act 4, Scenes 1, 2 along with me at this LINK
- Complete Act 4, Scenes 1, 2 Study guide questions

- Read Act 4, Scenes 3, 4 of R&J (Watch video here: LINK)
- When you get to the point where I say we will have a professional perform Juliet's soliloquy, I have a video embedded there.. However, the sound is full of echos and makes her sound very haunted, but it is difficult to understand. So when I get to that point, pause it, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pScqnH2DyM. Then continue my video. Rocket science level of complicated, I know!
- Answer study guide questions
